5000 years ago, the ancient Egyptians prized linen above all for its special qualities and texture, it was called ‚woven moonlight’.
As they already knew of its hygienic and anti-bacterial properties, it was a widely popular fabric. You will certainly also appreciate the advantages linen has to offer as bedding. A traditional crop in Europe, half-linen drill was the standard cover material of a quality mattress until the 1960s.
Even compared to today’s versatile high-tech fabrics, linen will always prove to be superior. The fibre is naturally highly breathable, tear-resistant and offers great moisture – and temperature regulation, as if it were made for us.
The Classic Collection mattresses are covered in half-linen drill, with its unique qualities.
The firm and sturdy look of linen is not just a visual characteristic, it has great longevity and durability. A circumferential linen cording and our very own interior stapling technique are a mark of high quality craftsmanship, which has become a luxury in today’s world of mass production.
Baumberger half-linen drill is unbleached and specifically kept in its natural linen hue. The ‚inner’ qualities of a mattress will further determine its comfort and durability.
Inside Baumberger Classic mattresses you will only find the highest standard natural materials such as horsehair, pure new wool, cotton, linen, natural latex and coconut fibres. These are predominantly from certified organic sources and all production processes through to the final product strictly adhere to GOLS guidelines and are certified accordingly.

Horsehair mattress
Rossa Is made from premium horsetail hair, which for centuries has been considered the foremost mattress filling; fit for royalty. Our high standards and quality workmanship guarantees a very durable product. The luxurious cover is framed in linen-cording. The interior stapling creates shape stability and a classic look without buttons or tassels on the surface. The cover is quilted with wool and an additional cotton-linen fleece, which prevents any hair from piercing through the mattress. Rossa is a visco-elastic mattress, which is an ideal choice for adults with higher body weight and a tendency to perspire.

Rosso
Horsehair mattress
Rosso contains curly horsetail hair, which is highly breathable with superior moisture transport properties. A mane and tail hair combination filling creates a softer cushioning. This handcrafted mattress is a well-rounded product with many extras. The circumferential linen cording protects the edges and, along with our special interior stapling technique, helps to keep the mattress in shape longer. The cover is quilted with wool and an additional cotton-linen fleece, which prevents any hair from piercing through the mattress. Rosso is a mattress with elastic resistance, an ideal choice for adults with normal body weight.

Piuma Roko
Natural Latex Mattress
If you’re looking for an exceptional mattress you will be amazed by the quality features combined in the PiuMa Roko mattress. The unique layer structure provides superior temperature and moisture regulating properties. Horsehair and wool are known for their climate controlling qualities as well as their durability. Natural latex foam and coconut latex’s point-elasticity and highly breathable properties are further benefits. The quilted half-linen cover helps to transport humidity away from them body and the linen cording protects the shape of the mattress. An additional cotton layer prevents any horsehair from piercing through the mattress. In combination these materials create a medium-firm but elastic mattress.

Piuma Coko
Natural Latex Mattress
Soft on the outside and firm on the inside, is the best way to describe this classic mattress model. Coconut latex gives PiuMa Coko a very high breathability and stabilises the mattress towards the centre. The wide point-elastic layers of natural latex foam gently ease the body into the mattress and the quilted wool layer in the cover has temperature regulating properties. The half-linen cover is sturdy and keeps the sleeping environment dry and warm. PiuMa Coko is framed in our exclusive linen cording. This mattress is ideal for stomach and back sleepers with normal body weight. It also suitable for lightweight side sleepers.

Piuma Rosso
Rosshaarmatratze
PiuMa Rosso ist für Menschen geschaffen, die Rosshaar und dessen Eigenschaften lieben, jedoch einen elastischen Liegekomfort begrüßen. Die Rosshaarmatten dämpfen den punktelastischen Naturlatexkern etwas ab. GOLS Naturlatexschaum ist offenporig und somit besonders atmungsaktiv.
Die Materialkombination garantiert ein trocken-warmes Klima. Ebenso der Halbleinen-Drell mit untersteppter Wollschicht transportiert sehr gut Feuchtigkeit. Eingefasst ist der Steppbezug mit einer edlen Leinenbiese. Eine Baumwollschicht verhindert das Durchstechen von Haaren. Weich und anschmiegsam kommt PiuMa Rosso für alle Liegepositionen in Betracht.

Piuma Lana
Natural Latex Mattress
Looking for a mattress made entirely from natural latex foam and from 100 % certified organic sources? PiuMa Lana is the answer! Experience the superior point-elasticity, in combination with the highly breathable, open-pore surface structure of GOLS natural latex foam. PiuMa Lana is offered with two cover options: Option A, with a classic half-linen drill cover; and option B, with a soft velveteen cover. The latter comes with a triple-zip, making the cover removable. An inside sleeve made from tricot fabric provides protection for the core. In accordance with the level of firmness, the core will be point-elastic or soft to medium-firm.

Piuma Solo
Natural Latex Mattress
All materials are made from 100 % certified organic sources. The entire production process is certified by GOLS. The knitted soft double-jersey cover stretches to compliment the high point-elasticity of the core to fit the body contours. Natural latex foam has an open pore structure and is therefore highly breathable. It effectively transports warm and humid air away from the body. The antibacterial properties of natural latex and the removable, machine-washable cover make the PiuMa Solo mattress suitable for individuals with allergies.

Slatted
The frame is made from 100% untreated beech wood. Medio is offered either as fixed, back height adjustable, or back-foot height adjustable options. All models are metal free constructions. The beech slats are secured with synthetic rubber slat holders, which run flush with the frame and make the Medio frame flexible, even at the edges. It has a reinforced centre to regulate firmness. It is suitable for all ‚Classic’ products and many other Baumberger mattresses.
